Miguel O’Hara, better known as Spider-Man 2099, isn’t just another wall-crawler. He’s got razor-sharp talons, venomous fangs, insane strength, and in Across the Spider-Verse he looked like he packed on 30–40 pounds of pure muscle between films. That bulk wasn’t random—it matches how he’d realistically need to train and eat if he existed in real life.
Miguel’s Powers and Body
Spider-Man 2099’s power set is unique. He can lift up to 10 tons, leap 30 feet, climb with talons, and generate venom through his fangs. Unlike Peter Parker, his abilities are genetic—he’s literally a man spliced with spider DNA. That means his body would still adapt to training and nutrition in the same way a human’s would, only amplified.
The Training Approach
To build Miguel’s massive frame, we need to focus on the muscles he’d actually use most in combat and web-swinging. His body is built around pulling strength—back, traps, biceps, and forearms—since his webs act like ropes, and ropes are for pulling.
Phase 1: Strength and Mass
Heavy compound lifts would form the base of his training. Think:
-
Deadlifts and rows for pulling strength
-
Overhead presses and lateral raises for his massive shoulders
-
Farmer’s carries and shrugs for the traps that define his frame
Phase 2: Explosive Power and Conditioning
To fight across dimensions, Miguel also needs durability and speed. This phase would emphasize:
-
Plyometric training for explosive movement
-
Conditioning circuits to match his superhuman stamina
-
Pull-focused accessory work to sharpen web-swinging power
The Diet Behind the Bulk
Training alone wouldn’t give Spider-Man 2099 that size. Miguel would need to fuel his recovery and rapid healing with extreme nutrition. A normal human bulks on about 250–500 calories over maintenance. Miguel’s output is so high he’d likely need 10,000+ calories per day just to maintain, with 3–4 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight to keep up with his healing factor.
Why This Works
Miguel’s bulked-up look in Across the Spider-Verse makes sense when you consider how he fights. Pulling strength for webs, trap and delt dominance for upper-body armor, and raw size for intimidation. Combined with conditioning and recovery, it’s exactly what Spider-Man 2099 would need to stay on top.
