Train Like Kratos: The God of War Workout Plan
Kratos isn’t just one of the most iconic characters in gaming—he’s also the perfect example of raw, functional power.
In the original God of War series, Kratos looked more like a bodybuilder with massive arms and broad shoulders. But in God of War (2018), we see a version built like a real warrior: huge traps, a thick core, and the brute strength to swing weapons that should be impossible to handle.
The Realistic Kratos Physique
If Kratos trained in real life, his workouts wouldn’t look like a typical bodybuilding split. They would look much closer to strongman training—focused on power, endurance, and functional strength.
That means heavy compound lifts, brutal carries, and explosive movements designed to dominate in combat. Think of athletes like Hafthor Björnsson (The Mountain from Game of Thrones)—big, powerful, and unstoppable.
How Kratos Would Train
Kratos’ training would revolve around three key strength days:
-
Squat Day – building lower body power and core stability.
-
Deadlift Day – developing total-body strength.
-
Overhead Press Day – maximizing shoulder and upper body dominance.
Each session would start with a heavy compound lift, followed by strongman-style movements like farmer’s carries, sled pushes, and yoke carries. These build the kind of “go muscles” needed for battle, not just show.
On top of that, Kratos would focus on rotational movements—wood chops, med ball throws, steel mace swings—to mimic the way he generates power with his weapons. Two more days per week would be dedicated to athleticism and explosive training, making him faster, more resilient, and battle-ready.
The Lifestyle to Match
Training is only part of the equation. To actually build a physique like Kratos, you’ll also need to:
-
Sleep 8–9 hours every night.
-
Eat in a slight calorie surplus (250–500 extra calories per day).
-
Get 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight.
-
Keep stress as low as possible for better recovery.
Consistency is the real secret to becoming godlike.
